Gold and ivory

Originally posted on October 5th, 2012

We spent a beautiful Saturday at surrounding of Saimaa Canal, the most important waterway passage in Finland. I am especially interested about old canal structures, by which we took couple pics of my daily outfit.

I was wearing one of my first ever vintage cardigans. I found it years ago from my home town flea market and I have liked it ever since.

The full circle skirt which has a gold coloured embroidery is comfortable warm and goes well in the cooling autumn weather.

Besides that my outfit includes a gold colour purse which has a light lucite lid and light mules. The light coloured earrings and necklace by Coro.

One of my best flea market findings

Originally posted on September 7th, 2012

Today I am wearing a blue English made coat. Besides that I have beige-brown handbag and hat outfit set, brown suede shoes, navy gloves and navy rhinestone earrings.

The coat is one of my best flea market finds. I found it a few years ago, on a traditional Finnish flea market round of mine in a small country town. I found in addition to the coat ten pairs of 40s and 50s shoes, in my sister’s and mine size, as well as dresses and other clothing. Flea market merchants said that the goods were of the collection of small town fine lady, which had been planned to be thrown into the trashes after the lady’s passing away. This lady, judging on the collection, was a wonderful sight on the streets a small country town in the 50s. I paid for everything only a few euros, so this was a real happy day for me!

On the road again

Originally posted on August 10th, 2012

As the Finnish summer is short, every weekend seems to be full of some program. After the work week we pack the car and go somewhere to spend the time for a weekend, such as to a swap jumble, attend a party or spend time with friends.

Today’s outfit is perfect for travelling on hot summer days, it is a nice cool and it does not crease or wrinkle.

Summer travelling gear such as sun hats and bathing suits can be conveniently carried in Samsonite hat box, train case and suitcase.

Tie-collared chequered cotton shirt has same pink as the shorts. For the shorts I’ve added the pink plastic belt. I also have a pink lucite low-heel summer shoes.

For jewellery, I have chosen opaque bracelet by Leru and pink earrings. The pink-coloured rhinestone embellished pair of eyeglasses are one pair of my everyday spectacles.

My favourite sun top by Sears

Originally posted on July 27th, 2012

I do not think I could ever get bored browsing through old Sears mail order catalogues. For example, due to heavy wear, I prefer instead the original catalogues the ones published by the Schiff’s Fashionable Clothing: From the Sears Catalogues book series, which comes conveniently in your bag to the beach, countryside or even to a seamstress. Sears has had in production gorgeous clothes, one of which this blue sun top is a good example of.

With the top, I have chosen to accompany the blue denim capris. The wedges which are of the same colour as the top, are made of leather and clear plastic. Also my belt is clear plastic. For jewellery, I have chosen a huge blue flower earrings and charm bracelet.

Brown Kamehameha dress

Originally posted on July 13th, 2012

Today I am wearing a brown Kamehameha Hawaiian dress, which has a print that matches perfectly on a hot summer day. It has figures of sail boats, fishermen, surfers, palm trees, pineapples, sea shells and flowers. Kamehameha is one of my favourite Hawaiian dress labels. This Kamehameha I had as a present from my boyfriend.

My handbag is of plastic covered braiding and Lucite plastic. The shoes are made of white leather and vinyl plastic.

As I was touring last summer in Stockholm vintage shops and visited for first time in Sivletto, where I found these shoes. Our party did many good shoppings in Sivletto and my mom especially was very fond of this shop.

The earrings are of New Old Stock from Hawaiian retailer who closed already in the late 1950s. The handbag and charm bracelet are obtained from eBay.

Black and white feathers

Originally posted on June 15th, 2012

On the last Friday of October was celebrated the wedding of my dear friend, after which the celebration continued on Saturday with a Rock 'n' Roll party. I had reserved for the weekend two different outfits, but I liked the wedding night outfit so much that I decided to use it also on Saturday, when I only changed my hair style. My outfit included a black cocktail dress with a feather hem, a white feather headband, nylon gloves and round box purse. My shoes were the Finnish-made suede high heels and for jewellery I had chosen poodle bracelet and earrings to fit.

I am including here a picture of our dinner party taken from the wedding album.

I had it not a long ago from eBay, and it is a matching one with the hat that I had from a shop called Play It again, Sam in Helsinki (Finland). The shoes are one pair of my everyday favourites from my all time favourite shop, called Nasta (also in Helsinki). The leopard handbag is from car show and earrings came from eBay.

About Me and The Bubbles

Hello and welcome to The Lucky Bubbles! The Lucky Bubbles is my public vintage outfit diary, where I open the doors of my vintage closet and share my life in "a vintage bubble" with you. Dressing in vintage clothing is part of my lifestyle, which is due to my love of music from 1940’s to 60’s era. Almost all my vintage items date back to 50’s and early 60’s (small part is already from 40’s). In this blog I shall only present vintage items (unless specially noted). Besides collecting vintage items, I love going to parties in good company and having looong car runs. I hope my posts will delight you or even better inspire you. Your comments are more than welcome!
